Billie Eilish – Hit My Heartstrings Hard and Soft

Apparently, Dave Grohl was alerted to Billie Eilish by his daughters and claimed he had never seen a phenomenon in the music industry like this since, well, Nirvana – when Nevermind broke. Similarly I’m going to thank my daughter’s as well and also agree with Dave. I have become a fan. Why? Unlike Taylor Swift and her (in my opinion) unethical approach in having a team of writers crank out hits…. Billie and her brother Finneas O’Connell began writing all their original compositions from their bedroom at mom and dads house. And to this day still maitin artistic control over their music.

Over the past few years, I have bought my little ladies everything she has released on vinyl. Last Christmas a music industry friend helped me facilitate tour merch, backstage passes, and stage played guitar pics for them to open up under the Christmas tree.

They have been persistently, wondering when she will tour in Charlotte. I explained to them the way touring cycles work and how Charlotte is a smaller market. She will come through on the second leg – And told them 1000% when she comes, they will be there – And here we are!

The Hit me Hard and Soft Tour second leg kicks off this week in the European market and will make its way to the states early fall. I counted 48 dates, all of which are completely SOLD OUT Mind you, London & Manchester UK have five nights, back to back completely sold out. The spectrum center holds 17,500 people and some of the other arenas boast even higher occupancy.

My industry friends had alerted me about the October 19 and 20, 2025 Charlotte tour stop a few weeks ago. But sadly, they were unable to pull any strings with a tour of this magnitude. The best I could get was an early access presale code…. and thank God for that!

I logged in early and jumped in the queue. To my bewilderment, there were 44,792 people in front of me. Two nights at spectrum Center could only accommodate 35,000 seats. I almost accepted defeat when I heard a ding while working from my other computer – it was my turn! I scramble to find three lower level seats. Don’t get me started on the ticket prices and $112 in Ticketmaster service fee fees. Not to mention Billie’s estimated net worth is currently $53 million. But nosebleed was not an option.

With a sigh of relief and a swipe of the MasterCard, I knew I secured a very amazing first concert experience for them. They asked about the tickets all week and I just told them I was working on it. A few days later General Public sales opened up. The remaining tickets sold out in 56 minutes. The girls came into my room and I had the Ticketmaster “sold out” screen pulled up. I didn’t say anything, but they saw it and you could tell they were fighting back tears. They are amazing and didn’t want to hurt my feelings for seemingly not getting tickets. Earlier that day I had hid some physical tickets inside two respective Billie album sleeves. They wanted to film a reel of them showing off their records – so I pretended to make that video but was able to capture the moment of surprise live. The look of their faces and subsequent dancing was worth all the price gouging.

In closing, I would do anything for them, but especially anything involving music. I was their age when I became completely obsessed with Nirvana and Guns N’ Roses. Their excitement stirs up those emotions and pulls at my heartstrings. I can’t say I’ve ever been to a pop concert or a stadium tour of this magnitude. I prefer jumping off the stage of a 200 cap sweaty punk rock venue – which these days looks more like me standing on the side of the stage or in the barricade with a camera away from the insanity.

Looks like I have some ‘do your chores’ leverage for the next few months of waiting. I have a feeling I am going to sing loud, dance and probably have a dad cry.
