FURNACE FEST 2022 – Back to Birmingham

With only a few weeks before FF 2022 I was blessed with another photography pass. First I must say in all my years of being around the music industry this is the most well put together production I have been a part of. It’s also very communal. Hardcore music is not everyones cup of tea. Though it’s commonplace to me, the mainstream market is oblivious to this type of music.

I really like this photo I shot of a lil dude crowd surfing. I love the photo of lil man going wild for AVAIL. I was around that age when I saw them at Tremont Music Hall – Beau Beau and co are still amazing! I love how punk/hardcore transcends age/time. I still feel like this kid inside… just older and more sore in the morning. I was also very happy to have found his parents via some friends online. I am very excited to send them a print for their home.

I was blown away by New Found Glory. I know that sounds odd coming from me but they were great. I think Norma Jean stole the show for most in attendance. The last night punk rock legends Descendents played a career spanning set. The mighty Mastodon closed out the fest. Their musicianship always blows me away. Everyone in that band is a player through and through.
