Round Three – Birmingham! Furnace Fest 2023

Third time’s a charm. Back to Birmingham for Furnace Fest 2023! I have to start off by giving a shout out to Paul Waggoner, (guitarist BTBAM and PFC). His crew was instrumental in making sure I was able to capture all the right shots. With that being said, it felt like 2002. There was a very heavy North Carolina representation with the likes of the legendary Prayer for Cleansing, which spawned Between the Buried and Me, and Charlotte Hometown innovators Hopesfall.

It was great to see so many faces I have not seen in a long time. Not to mention Jordan Buckley and co’s Better Lovers. The new project that rose from the dramatic break up of Every Time I Die. MXPX brought a ton of energy reminiscent of their younger days. I had the pleasure of meeting Strife in Buffalo, NY opening for Snapcase last year. They also did not disappoint in Alabama – super nice guys!

Lastly, I could’ve spent a whole paycheck on merchandise alone. My biggest stand out was Hopesfall‘s re-release of the “Satellite years” on double LP 45 RPM vinyl.
Sang your passes for 2024 – This is the best run festival and I have had the privilege of photographing every year. Sadly 2024 will be the end of this era.
