StefTone x MojoTone – Around The Super Strat

My first venture outside Les Paul’s & Offsets. Behold the SC-20 (MH style) LTD. I swapped out the ESP stock pups for MoJo Tone Magnum 44 & 58’ Quiet Coil (bridge) in the neck position. NEW output 21k-11.2k-11.6k. Thank you Mr. Keith Mcandrews for the pairing suggestions.

As Keith elegantly put it – “Stephen Carpenter used that guitar in the ’90s before he switched over to a 7-string. That Neck single coil can be heard all over those first few records. The guy definitely can make some unique sounds and his guitar has a lot to do with it”

Did my admiration for the first three deftones records have a hand in this build? YES. However the tonal combos from this HHS config are endless. With the 5-way selector in the down position (bridge) you can chug and groove. Position 3 has an envelope filter out-of-phase vibe. All the way up (neck) position gives off some serious David Gilmour vibes.

After playing active 81/85 pickups for the last 15 years… When credit is due, it’s due. Hats off to Mojo Tone for cracking the code. High-output shredding pickups + actually (clean) cleans.
