Julius Chambers was a prominent lawyer during the Civil Rights era. He won numerous landmark civil rights cases, by winning major U.S. Supreme Court decisions such as 1971’s Swann v. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education, which led to federally mandated busing for school desegregation and Griggs v. Duke Power Co. Swann v.
